Mega-development on site of old Burma Railways HQ in Yangon will be done in 2020, company says

More details are emerging about Yoma Strategic’s “Landmark Development” project on the corner of Bogyoke Aung San road and Alan Pya Pagoda road.

You may know it more as the site of the old headquarters for Burma Railways, or the site that has seemingly sat there for a while with few outwards signs of progress.

But progress there is!

To sum up, it will be a little bit bigger (2.44 million square feet instead of 2.12 million square feet) and the total cost is estimated at $660 million, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Singapore-listed Yoma Strategic also provided a rendering of the design (see above), which looks a lot better than the dreary site that exists now.

You may be wondering, what is Landmark Development?

According to the company, there will be luxury residences, serviced apartments, two office towers and a “retail podium.”

In the middle is the former HQ of Burma Railways, which will be remade as a fancy hotel, The Peninsula Yangon.

All ready in a few years folks.

“The target completion for the Landmark Development is before end of 2020,” the statement says.
