The organization B_in_ygn (Bikes in Yangon) launched earlier this year with the goal of advocating for cyclists’ rights, promoting cycling culture on university campuses, and collecting cycling-related data.
They already have a few major successes under their belt. For instance, on December 12, the group launched a bike-sharing scheme at the Myanmar Maritime University in Thanlyin – the result of months of advocacy and trial and error.
But their work has also yielded results that are a boon to all Yangon residents – not just students. Tucked away within their website is an interactive map that shows the locations of 134 bicycle retail and repair shops throughout Yangon.
Each number on the map represents the number of shops in a certain area. Zoom in, and these numbers will spread out into individual shops. Click a shop’s icon, and you’ll see what services the shop offers, where it’s located, when it’s open, and who owns it.
Now isn’t that useful?
Thanks B_in_ygn!
