Man nicknamed ‘Big Japan’ attacked karaoke-singing cops with a sword, Yangon police say

A 25-year-old nicknamed “Big Japan” is in custody after allegedly attempting to slash two police officers with a sword while they were singing karaoke in southern Dagon Township.

Sword … Japan … Hmmm, wonder where that nickname came from?

Police said the attack happened at around 11pm on Monday, the Voice Weekly reported.

Describing the suspect as a “thug,” a local police officer told the Voice that Big Japan had a big problem with the cops in question, who were sent to a local hospital with wounds to the face, chest and hands.

Two other men in the karaoke ensemble escaped unharmed.

The suspect was arrested in the late afternoon yesterday.
