Authorities have arrested a 32-year old man on suspicion of raping and kidnapping a woman described as his girlfriend.
The alleged assault was said to take place in North Okkala Township, a police officer there told the Voice Weekly. The suspect was arrested on Sunday after the woman was able to call her mother and plead for help, he added.
“Her boyfriend tied her with chains and raped her and locked her [in the house] for almost a month. She called her mom when he released her for a while, so that we could save her,” the officer told the Voice.
Police also say that the suspect punched the woman and cut her with a knife.
