Man arrested for allegedly slitting throat of Yangon taxi driver

A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing a taxi driver in the neck earlier this month.

Zarni Tun, from Mayangone township, was detained at traffic lights on Kabar Aye Pagoda road on Saturday, according to the Global New Light of Myanmar.

He is accused of murdering the driver with a 10-foot knife found in a bush near the scene of the crime on U Ba Han Road in Mayangone township on October 8.

Police said they believed he hired the driver from outside Dagon Center 2 and attempted to rob him on U Ba Han Road, stabbing him when he refused to hang over his belongings.

Investigations are ongoing.
