Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes near Yangon

If you felt the ground shaking below you last night, you weren’t alone.

A small earthquake was felt in Yangon at around 10pm, knocking out power all over the city for a couple of hours.

Some people reported a slight judder.

 

 

While others felt nothing at all.

According to initial data from the U.S Geological Society, the quake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale.

There have been no reports of damage.

Experts have warned for the past few years that Yangon is unprepared to cope if a major earthquake hits the city.
