There are plenty of songs written about Superman but few that capture the adoration that local singer-songwriter Thang Paa shows for the caped hero in this, um … touching music video tribute that went viral yesterday on social media. Actually, who are we kidding. It’s deeply weird.
The video of his aptly titled Superman Song has been shared more than 9,000 times since being posted to the singer’s Facebook page, where he describes himself as a vocalist, artist, songwriter and actor. And fair play, he has a following of nearly 150,000 people.
The video, which isn’t exactly on the high-end of the production scale, largely involves a variety of young men posing in Superman outfits, before Paa sneaks up and tenderly embraces them from behind in a way that is not creepy at all.
Kudos for the moment at the roughly 1:30 mark where he’s forced to change hand positions after realizing he’s about to tenderly embrace the Man of Steel’s manhood.
The lyrics are as fun as the video, with Paa confessing his long-standing love for Clark Kent’s alter ego in a warbling first verse that explains he’s “a prince I liked when I was young, someone I’ve liked till now. Yes, I like Superman.”
Paa is known among his fans in Myanmar for his outlandish fashion choices and silly music videos. In his video In God We Trust Thang Paa, he dances with mannequins in a crowded shopping mall while preaching the gospel of Thang Paa Style, his own fashion movement.
In a collection of other home-style videos on Youtube, Paa can be seen dressed to the nines singing on a rooftop or lying in a field singing to the camera about fashion, love and his devotion to God. While we can’t say with 100 percent certainty which deity, we can say that in one video he is wearing a truly sensational leather jacket with the words “Jesus Forever” emblazoned across the back.
