Krispy Kreme is coming to Myanmar

Think of a word beginning with ‘d’, so badly needed in Myanmar right now. No, not democracy. Donuts!

Krispy Kreme, supreme purveyor of sugar and calories donuts, has announced it will be the next Western food franchise to open up in the country. The first KFC opened its doors in June.

The chain has signed a partnership deal with Singapore-based Doughnut Group Pte Limited to bring the original glazed donut and all its deliciously greasy cousins to the mouths of local consumers.

They plan to open 10 shops in the next five years.

“With a growing economy and a population eager to welcome global brands, the time is right for Krispy Kreme to bring its sweet treats to Myanmar,” Dan Beem, Krispy Kreme’s international division president, told the Winston-Salem Journal.

Damn straight. The time is now.
