Knife-wielding drunk guy shot by officers in Tamwe: police

An intoxicated man was shot in the shoulder at his home in Tamwe Township on Saturday night after allegedly threatening police with an 11-inch knife.

Zin Ko Ko Lwin’s father called the cops after his son started acting in a threatening manner, according a post on the Yangon Police Force Facebook page.

When they arrived, he allegedly started throwing objects at police and then whipped out the blade. After firing a warning round, an officer shot him in the right shoulder.

He has been sent to Yangon General Hospital and has been charged with assaulting police officers.
