KFC opens at Yangon’s new international airport terminal

KFC in Myanmar continues to expand with its latest opening: Yangon International Airport.

Fried chicken before you fly everybody.

A post on the venture’s Facebook page says that the fast food eatery is located before the check-in counter at the new terminal, which had its soft opening last month, and that it started up April 2 on a trial basis.

Those flying early or late might be disappointed, as doors open at 9am and close at 7pm.

KFC Myanmar marketing representative Nyan Kyaw said in an email that the trial basis is due to the low number of airlines using the new terminal at the moment. He also said that there may be a connection with other parts of the airport in the future, but for now to access the restaurant you have to go to the new terminal.

Since KFC made it into Myanmar last year, becoming the first global fast food giant to enter the once closed-off market, it has opened five locations (including the airport).

The first is on Yangon’s Bogyoke Aung San Road; the second two are located in Junction Square and HAGL’s Myanmar Center; the fourth is at Dagon Centre 2; and Yangon International Airport marks the fifth spot.

KFC Myanmar is the result of an agreement between Yum! Brands and Singapore-listed Yoma Strategic Holdings.
