It’s official – Myanmar nationals are exempt from Singapore visa requirements

The exciting news was announced in June and yet lots of people were still hesitant to believe that it would actually happen. However, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore have just issued a statement making it official.

Yep, starting from December 1, Myanmar nationals no longer require a visa to travel to Singapore for up to 30 days’ stay, and vice versa.

This is great news for Myanmar and Singapore citizens who often travel between the two countries for business or to visit family or to buy furniture from IKEA (okay, maybe no one travels to Myanmar to do that last one).

Still, that’s one less country that requires us to undergo a mind-numbingly tedious visa application process.

Goodbye, Form 14A. Fare thee well, one passport-sized color photo with a white background taken within the last three months. Adios, copy of a Singapore citizen or permanent resident’s identity card.

As for us, we’re just counting down the days until we can hop over there for the weekend and grab ourselves some delicious visa hassle-free Singapore chicken rice.
