Husband accused of murdering wife with a sword before fleeing with their son

Authorities are on the hunt for a 35-year-old resident of North Okkalapa township who allegedly murdered his wife with a sword yesterday evening.

According to neighbors, the accused, Min Min, had an argument with his wife three days ago. They think that it must have escalated yesterday.

The quarter’s ward administrator Moe Kyaw told Kumudra, “We believe that he first cut her with a small kitchen knife, then stabbed her with a sword. She died on the spot.”

Neighbors admitted that they had closed their doors and hid inside their homes while the incident occurred. Following the murder, Min Min cleaned the sword and left with his four-year-old son. It was only then that the cops were called.

The Waibargi police station in North Okkalapa has opened a case under Section 302 (“Punishment for murder”) of the Myanmar Penal Code and is conducting an investigation.
