Here’s one Myanmar Fat Cat not blacklisted by the United States

Meet Charcoal, Myanmar’s favourite fat cat. He weighs 45 pounds (20kg). That’s about the size of a small child. Or a packed suitcase. Or a 5-gallon jug of water.

Charcoal is more than 12 years old and lives in Yangon after moving with his owners from his birthplace in Bago, according to a Facebook post by YoYarLay that has been shared hundreds of times and elicited much adoration and amazement.

The owner blames his mammoth size on his breeding, saying his mother must have mated with a wild cat. Nothing to do with too much Whiskas, then.

He’s pretty tame though, as the pictures below illustrate. And, adorably, he has a “small voice”, or meow, according to the owner, who attributes it to his large size.

He’s got his own Facebook page, so you can follow his adventures here.
