Headless body of child found in Yangon creek

A six-year-old girl who had hardly started elementary school was found decapitated on Friday in Yangon’s Pazundaung Stream in Daw Pone Township, according to local media reports.

The cases started as a missing person’s incident almost two weeks ago.

“We announced in the newspaper that she was missing,” a family member told 7Day. “She just passed the 1st grade.”

Her family, from Thaketa Township, was apparently able to identify her because of her clothes.

A skull was found not far from where the body was discovered and authorities are investigating.

In an interview with the Voice, the girl’s mother said she was “active and a lot of people love her.”

“People from this street are relatives and there were no problems with them. She used to play nearby and doesn’t wander away,” the mother reportedly said.
