Strolling around Yangon can be a process. There’s traffic, uneven sidewalks and dogs to dodge.
Now think about running around the city. Now think about running 26 miles around city!
Tired yet? Terrified yet?
Well better buck up. On January 17, the city will play host to the 4th Yoma Yangon International Marathon, Xinhua reported. More than 5,000 runners are expected.
For those of us who aren’t so swift-footed or need a few more months to stop eating pizza, there’s a half-marathon and a 10-kilometer race.
For those of us still looking for something on the non-long side that requires the minimum amount of effort, there’s a “fun run” and a walk.
On the bright side, roads will be cleared of traffic on the day of the race, so this may be one chance to experience the city in a different form.
Proceeds raised through the event will be donated to charity.
