A man was seriously wounded last week when a group of masked individuals invaded his home and fled with several of his possessions before firing shots at him. The attack took place last Friday afternoon, when six masked men on motorcycles approached 39-year-old She Chan Yi’s house located in Mu Se District’s Kutkai Township.

“Four individuals went inside the house, while two waited outside. He [the victim] says they were wearing masks. They asked for money and ransacked the place. They told U She Chan Yi to sit down and hit him with the butt of the gun. As they were leaving, they started firing. They also stole four phones,” an officer from the Shan State Police Department told 7Day. The culprits made a successful getaway on their motorcycles.

Shi Chanri suffered gunshot wounds to his thigh and hands. He was taken to the Nan Phet Kar Hospital for treatment, and later transferred across the border to the Shwe Li Hospital in China.

The Nan Phet Kar Police Station has opened a case against the masked culprits for inflicting grave harm with the intent to murder.
