Four dead, 200 injured on New Year’s Eve

Four Yangon residents died and at least 200 were hospitalized on the final night of 2017, Yangon General Hospital reported.

Most of the patients were men came in with injuries they suffered during drunken fights.

The four fatalities were men who died on the way to the hospital.

Anticipating a busy night, Yangon General Hospital doubled its workforce and resources on New Year’s Eve.

This year’s injury toll topped that of 2016, when 172 people were treated at the hospital for injuries from fights and car accidents.
