Four arrested after 87-year-old man strangled to death in dining room

Four men have been arrested after an 87-year-old man was strangled to death at home in Mingalar Taung Nyunt township on Saturday.

U Kareem Kyaw Nyein was found dead in his dining room with his hands and feet tied with rope, Eleven Media reported.

The house had been ransacked but police did not know if anything was taken.

His daughter, Daw Nyunt Nyunt Sein, informed the police, who made the arrests within 24 hours according to 7 Days.

“We don’t know the reason for killing yet,” Thein Aung, the police chief officer for Mingalar Taung Nyunt township was quoted as saying.

It’s the second murder of an elderly person in the township this year.

In January, a 70-year-old woman who lived alone was murdered in her apartment on 123rd Street. Nobody has been charged.

Earlier this month, the decomposing bodies of two elderly women were found in Tamwe township. Their feet had been bound together.
