First rains of the season give Yangon long-awaited soaking

Yangon got its first taste of the rainy season this morning, with short showers across the city at around noon.

The wet weather brings an end – hopefully – to weeks of hot weather, with temperatures hovering around 41 degrees Celsius.

Excited residents posted photos on social media.

Former Minister for Information, Ye Htut, was among them, posting a “feeling happy’ status.

Here are our snaps, from Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township.

Enjoy the moment. Chances are we’ll rue the day three months from now.
