Famous jade company bombed in Kachin State

The Kachin State Police Force reported that a jade business in Yuma Village, Hpakant Township, was attacked by a group of 20 militants, including two women, on November 2 at 7pm.

Thirty employees of the Yadanar Yaung Chi Company who were present were told to lie on the ground while the attackers used landmines to destroy three vehicles and a dormitory. Two staff members were beaten.

The armed group fled after the attack, and Tatmadaw troops were dispatched to find them.

The fire caused by the explosions was not put out until 10:30pm, according to an eyewitness.

The Yadanar Yaung Chi Company made the news recently when its workers discovered a giant piece of jade weighing an estimated 200 tons, according to Popular News Journal.

A high-ranking official from the Kachin State Police Force said: “We have confirmed that it was KIA. They came with 30 people. They set up mines and asked company staff to lie on the ground. One employee is seriously injured, and another has minor injuries. They took K1 million and an Oppo phone.”
