Fake currency found in Shwedagon Pagoda donation boxes

A number of fake 10,000 kyats (about $8) notes were found amid a pile of donation money given at Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda, the holiest Buddhist site in Myanmar.

The Dagon Myoma police told the Voice that the fake notes were discovered in donation boxes from different days after they were sent to Myanmar Economic Bank to be emptied and deposited.

“We are waiting for the instruction from higher level to keep investigating after sending those fake notes,” he was quoted as saying.
