Rainy season officially ended over a week ago, but tell that to the heavens.
Rain is expected to fall over a large portion of Myanmar over the weekend, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. Some coastal areas will receive “isolated rain or thundershowers” until Monday.
“A depression in the Bay of Bengal will trigger thundershowers across the country,” department deputy director Hla Htun told Eleven. “The rain was triggered by the depression. After two days, some regions, including Yangon, will get less rain.”
The department said the code-yellow depression was located 50 miles south of Paradip, India, in the northwestart part of the Bay of Bengal.
“Above normal rains are likely in Ayeyawady Region and Rakhine and Chin states, and about normal in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states,” the department announced.
