Drug dealing and religion don’t usually go hand-in-hand. Unless you’re a Mexican cartel member.
But one man arrested for allegedly dealing heroin in Shan state this week wasn’t raking in cash, according to police.
Instead, he supposedly swapped the drugs for Buddha images.
The alleged trade was discovered when a man identified as Thaik Aung, who lives in Pan Maung village, in Kyaukme town, was arrested with 0.3 grams of heroin, police told the Global New Light of Myanmar.
Police said he explained how he came to acquire the narcotics, and officers then went to the home of a man named Tun Aung, where they reportedly found the two statues.
