A driver appears to have had a lucky escape on Saturday morning after a concrete slab from the 20-storey Sule Square construction site in downtown Yangon fell and crushed the roof of his car.
Sule Square, a high-end shopping complex directly connected to Shangri-La Hotel, is scheduled to open this year after months of construction.
In a widely shared Facebook post, Maung Zaw Min wrote: “At around 10am in the morning of 12th March, my car, a Land Cruiser 1999 model, was waiting in the traffic to turn from Sule Pagoda Road to Anawrahta Road.”
“My car roof was destroyed as… concrete measuring 15 by 1.5 feet fell down 22 floors from the Sule Square building which is being constructed by CNQC company.”
A representative of CNQC Myanmar declined to comment when contacted by Coconuts Yangon.
