Dozens of people got stuck in an elevator at Shwedagon Pagoda

This must have been annoying.

More than 30 people found themselves confined for about an hour in an elevator at Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda on Thursday, 7Day News Journal reported.

The elevator was not far off the ground when the problem started.

An official from the fire department told 7Day that it took 15 minutes to sort out once the firefighters arrived on the scene.

Which begs the question, did it really take them 45 minutes to arrive on the scene?

Hard to say, and accounts differed over why the elevator stopped working, with firefighters saying it was overloaded (makes sense) and an employee at Shwedagon blaming it on low electricity supply (makes less sense).

Either way, no severe injuries were reported.
