Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has postponed travel to two Myanmar states this week due to exhaustion.
The National League for Democracy (NLD) politician was scheduled to make speeches in Mon and Kayin States on March 27 and 29 to mark the centenary of the birth of her father, independence leader General Aung San.
Dr Tin Myo Win, her family doctor, told Eleven Media the pro-democracy icon, who will turn 70 in June, was in good health.
“Aunty is in good health. It’s right that her trips were postponed. She’s very tired due to her recent trips. And she is also due to attend Parliament. The rescheduling is not due to her health.”
Aye Min Han, information officer from the Mon State NLD branch, said dates for the re-scheduled trips will be announced later.
