Good news for travelers — starting from July 1, Emirates will be serving a direct flight from Yangon to the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh, the airline announced in a statement today.

To clarify, the new route is part of a longer Dubai-Yangon-Phnom Penh route that will run on a daily basis. The flight will leave Dubai at 9:15am, arrive in Yangon at 5:25pm, leave Yangon at 6:55pm, and land in Phnom Penh at 9:25pm. On the way back, the plane will leave Phnom Penh at 11:10pm, arrive in Yangon at 12:40am, and then head back out at 2:10am for Dubai, which it will reach at 5:40am. (Note that all times are local.)

Emirates first launched a daily Dubai-Yangon route — which was in turn part of a longer Dubai-Yangon-Hanoi route — in August of last year. The launch of the Dubai-Yangon-Phnom Penh route on July 1 will also coincide with the launch of a new direct route between Dubai and Hanoi.

Currently, no airlines serve a direct flight between Yangon and Phnom Penh. Instead, travelers have to connect through neighboring Bangkok.
