Developing cyclone will bring rain to parts of Myanmar

Feeling a bit chilly this morning? No, it’s not just you, it really is colder today.

According to meteorologist Htun Lin, a cyclone is forming in the Bay of Bengal (yes, another one).

Of course, with a cyclone comes rain, which parts of Myanmar will experience this week.

The rain is likely to hit on Thursday (December 8). Areas that will be affected are the northern Bago region, western parts of Magway, regions to the south-east of Mandalay, Irrawaddy region, Rakhine State, southern Shan State, and Kayah State.

Regions near Mon State are also expected to receive rain between December 9 and 16.

There’s a chance that other parts of the country might also experience showers.

So really, if you happen to live anywhere in Myanmar, prepare for possible rain at some point this week.

U Kyaw Lwin, director of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, told The Voice that the cyclone could hit India’s east coast as it gets stronger.

For those of you keeping count, this will be the fourth cyclone to form in the Bay of Bengal during this year’s October-December post-rainy season.
