Dabein police are trying to track down next of kin of an unidentified man who was found draped along the front of a train heading to Dawei.
The train originally left Yangon for Dawei on Saturday. It was passing through Dabein Township — located near the border that divides Yangon and Bago regions, approximately 36 kilometers from the point of departure — when a conductor at the Dabein railway station noticed that a body was draped on the train’s buffer beam, located at the front of the vehicle. He flagged down the train and relayed the news to officials at the Bago central railway station.
Once the train was stopped, authorities were able to confirm that the man was already deceased.
“We don’t know where the train picked up the body. It was raining so the train operator didn’t see it. From the looks of it, the man was hit by the train and then dragged along,” a Dabein police officer told Kumudra.
The body was then transported to the Hlegu General Hospital. Hospital officials noted that his right hand and left wrist, along with both of his legs, had been crushed, and that he likely died as a result of his injuries. They believe that the man was approximately 35 years old.
A case has been opened at the Dabein Police Station, and police are currently trying to find out more information that could help identify the deceased.
