Can’t make this up: screwdriver used to rob bus driver in Yangon

Two men have been arrested after allegedly using a screwdriver to rob a bus driver who was clocking out in the early morning in Yangon’s Tamwe Township on Wednesday.

“A driver sitting in the driver’s seat was counting money that he got from the whole day and two of them got onto the bus and robbed it. But the driver didn’t let them take it, so they pointed a screwdriver at the driver then they took the money and ran away,” an unnamed police officer from Tamwe told the Voice. “At that time, patrolling police near Tamwe mosque found them out and arrested them.”

The suspects were 26 and 21 years old, respectively.

Buses are one of the most inexpensive ways to get around Yangon, so the haul of 30,000 kyats (or about $25) wasn’t that much.

In case you don’t believe the story, the police posted a photo of the suspects, with identities blurred, the sad small mound of cash, and of course, a screwdriver.
