Myanmar model and actress Nang Mwe San is unable to travel to Bangkok because Yangon’s Passport Office has refused to return her passport after she tried to renew it recently, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The source, who spoke anonymously for fear of reprisal, said Nang had to cancel a trip to Bangkok where her father is undergoing unspecified medical treatment since the officials have not returned her passport since March 31.

Nang has reportedly complained the decision was “unfair” and violates her right to travel.

Other celebrities, especially those who joined anti-coup protests last year, are reportedly in the same situation.

Nang has reportedly removed from her social media pictures showing her at protests and making the three-finger salute associated against dictatorship in both Myanmar and Thailand.

Being a doctor made her parents proud. Going on OnlyFans made her rich.

Nang, 32, is famous in Myanmar for her erotic pictures posted to the subscriber site, which she has said earns US$7,000 to US$10,000 a month. With nearly 610,000 fans on Instagram, she was recently a guest speaker at Texas University in the United States regarding the human rights situation in Myanmar.

Her permission to travel can only be granted by the junta’s home affairs minister, the source said.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated Nang’s monthly income as US$70,000 to US$100,000. In fact, she said it was US$7,000 to US$10,000.
