A bomb exploded at the Ocean Supercenter in Yangon’s 9 Mile area this morning, the latest in a string of attacks in the city that opposition forces say they have carried out since the government in exile declared war on the ruling junta.

Insurgent groups in Hlaing Tharyar Township claimed responsibility for at least six explosions yesterday at about 4pm, hours after a noontime bombing of maritime authority offices near the Dawbon dockyards. There were no reports of injuries in those attacks.

A clerk was reportedly injured at around 6am this morning when a bomb burst in front of the ward administrator’s office on Lower Kyeemyindaing Road.

On Sept. 7, the so-called National Unity Government called for organized, armed resistance to escalate attacks against the military, effectively declaring war.
