This kid is going to have one of the best stories about how he got his name.
For now, we can tell the tale.
After a Myanmar national gave birth to a baby boy aboard a Jetstar Asia flight to Yangon on Friday (April 22), she reportedly named the little guy “Saw Jet Star,” the carrier said.
Saw is an honorific used by ethnic Karen in Myanmar.
The flight had landed and the woman was assisted by the crew and a team of three doctors (lucky!) who just happened to be on board.
“We’re most pleased to announce that a baby boy, named Saw Jet Star, was delivered safely onboard 3K583 by a team of doctors and the crew after the flight landed in Yangon on Friday, 22 April 2016,” the airline announced on its Facebook page.
“Both mother and son are in good health and have been discharged from the local hospital in Yangon. The baby boy weighed six pounds, seven ounces and is the FIRST baby to be delivered on a Jetstar Asia flight,” the company said, adding that it will contribute about $750 for baby supplies.
Jetstar also thanked the docs who sprang into action.
Weirdly or not, this seems to be the second time in recent weeks that a baby has been born on a flight to Yangon.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this post stated that ‘Saw’ is a name used by ethnic Shan. We regret the error.
