Yangon authorities have located the body of the young man who accidentally drowned in Inya Lake on Saturday afternoon while out on a walk with his friends.
The deceased was a 23-year-old Taungoo resident who, along with three other friends, was visiting Yangon. The group had just arrived in the city on Saturday morning, and decided to go for a walk along Inya Lake around 3pm that afternoon. While on their walk, one of the deceased’s shoes fell into the lake and he went into the water to retrieve it, but never resurfaced.
Authorities were immediately alerted, but they were unable to retrieve his body until around 9am yesterday morning, approximately eighteen hours after he initially disappeared.
Police do not suspect any foul play.
