Aung San Suu Kyi to visit India, meet with PM Narendra Modi for first time

State counsellor and foreign minister Aung San Suu Kyi is traveling to India from October 16 to October 19 to attend a gathering of countries from the region and other nations comprising the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) grouping.

The BRICS-BIMSTEC conference will be held in Goa.

Afterwards, Suu Kyi will travel to Delhi, the Voice reported, where she will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time since her party won national elections last year.

Since forming a government in March, the Suu Kyi-led administration has sent President Htin Kyaw to India.
