Aung San Suu Kyi tries to ease voter fears

Aung San Suu Kyi asked crowds in Irrawaddy Division over the weekend to vote for her National League for Democracy (NLD) party in the November 8 election, telling them not to worry about being seen as an opposition supporter.

“It is clear, just vote NLD in the 2015 election,” she said in Maw Kyun Township on Sunday. Her comments were reported by Mizzima.

“Those people who are threatening the people [and saying] something will happen if you vote for the NLD, they are lying. No one will know who you vote for or which party [you vote for] on election day,” she said. “That’s why, I’d like to request that you vote for who you support. And I want NLD to be the one that you support.”
