At Aung San Suu Kyi speech, ‘media’ corner looks like livestock pen

We’re a little biased, but couldn’t the National League for Democracy come up with anything better than the wood and rope “media” space pictured above, which is not fit for barnyard animals?

Party chairman Aung San Suu Kyi is scheduled to give a speech in about an hour at the location in Yangon region’s Thanlyin township. The field is part of a pagoda. NLD flags are set up in the background.

A photographer who showed up to cover the news snapped the photo, and according to another photographer with experience covering the NLD, most Suu Kyi speeches have similar press set ups.

And how do we know it’s the media area? The flimsy plastic sign spells out “media” in Burmese.

Come on NLD. This week we gave it to parliament for making journalists watch the Shwe Mann-igans from a TV in the hallway.

You’re better than this.
