Angelina Jolie visit brings rare excitement to Naypyitaw

Angelia Jolie flew into Naypyitaw this morning, quickly becoming probably the most exciting thing ever to have happened there.

The Hollywood actress, who is reportedly visiting Myanmar’s vast manmade capital in her capacity as a special UN envoy for refugee issues, arrived at around 10am, according to Seven Day newspaper.

She will participate in election awareness programs organised by the British embassy. Her next stop? Yangon and, according to The Irrawaddy, troubled Rakhine state.

Photos of her visit have already been shared by hundreds on Facebook.

Earlier this week she was visiting Cambodia, the birthplace of her son Maddox, where she will shoot a film adaptation of a Khmer Rouge memoir.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as details emerge.
