Alright, game over: Myanmar’s astrologists know the outcome of the US election

The campaigns may  be in full swing ahead of the US’ November election, but one group of people already know the outcome well in advance: Myanmar’s astrologers.

According to the Myanmar Times, a good number are in agreement that the stars favor Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton to become the US’ next president.

Why? Not because her Republican opponent Donald Trump is, well, Donald Trump. But because of her date of birth or because she’s a woman, depending on who you ask.

“According to the calculations of the Myanmar year, Jupiter is in ascending constellation for the year 17.4.1378 to 17.4.1379,” astrologer Kaung San Linn told the Times. “Jupiter is associated with the female, meaning that women will be powerful in the world. That’s why Daw Aung San Suu Kyi became our country’s leader. It also goes for Germany. So, I can definitely say that Clinton will be elected president.”

Two other astrologers consulted by the Times were in agreement, for different reasons.

Zay Hmue Shein, who has been in the profession since 2009, said her birthday played a vital role.

“According to the outcomes of Eastern astrology, Hillary Clinton has the advantage over all others in the United States elections,” he told the Times.

Aung Myin Kyaw added: “The Sun, as the ruler of good luck (11 houses), is in the first house with Ascendant and Venus the ruler of Libra is also in its own first house. And powerful Saturn with Mars is situated in the 10th house, the Great House of all. Hillary Clinton will be under the influence of the Sun, between the periods of 6.9.2015 to 6.9.2021. The implications are quite clear.”

Phew.

Only one astrologer said the odds were against Clinton.

Min Thein Kyaw said: “He is Saturday-born, she is Friday-born. According to this Myanmar year (1378), Saturday exists in dwar ya, in limbo, and Friday is located in marana. Obviously, she cannot possibly win.”

Obviously.

Beloved as they are, Myanmar’s astrologists don’t have a track record of extreme accuracy.

Ahead of Myanmar’s own election last November, one of the most well-known, San Zar Ni Bo, predicted that the polls would be postponed. Aung Myin Kyaw, meanwhile, was sure that the former ruling party would be re-elected.

Both were wrong.

Kaung San Linn, one of those backing Clinton, called the outcome correctly, however. So that’s something.
