After brief scolding, reporters let back into Myanmar parliament media gallery

Officials in Myanmar’s capital Naypyidaw have reversed their decision to ban journalists from the media gallery overlooking parliament less than two days after booting them out for taking photos of lawmakers sleeping in their seats.

The dust-up started after images of the Naypyidaw nappers were circulated on social media. In response, Union Parliament officials banished reporters from the gallery to a corridor outside, where they were allowed to watch the proceedings on television.

The mini-scandal was dubbed “Nap-pyidaw” by the Democratic Voice of Burma, which reported the readmission on Thursday.

No reason was given for the hasty change of mind.
