90s-themed event at Kandawgyi Park raises money for charity

An event organized by the youth group/social activists/charity organization the “90s Kids” took in nearly 17 million kyats (about $14,000) over the weekend.

Starting in the afternoon in Kandawgyi Park on Sunday, cartoonists, musicians, artists and performers turned out for the party, whose theme was, you guessed it, folks born in the 90s and 90s culture.

Proceeds from the event, which cost about $2 to get into, will go to education efforts in monastaries, organizers said.
