5.1 magnitude earthquake ripples through Yangon, Bago

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck around 36 kilometers southeast of the town Tharyarwady in Bago Region at around 8:50pm on Monday, according to the US Geological Survey.

Yangon residents reported feeling light tremors for several seconds.

USGS reported some light damage to poorly constructed buildings in Yangon and Bago regions.

75 people responded to a USGS survey saying they felt the earthquake, most of whom are located in Yangon and near Tharyarwady.

There have been no reports of injuries.
