15 Yangon townships will be without water through tomorrow

Thanks to that damn leaking pipe in northern Yangon, residents of 15 townships will have no water until tomorrow night at the earliest.

It’s the second time this month that the faulty pipeline near 9 Mile has caused outages in the city.

Yangon City Development Council told 7Day that supplies – which have been cut since yesterday in some areas – be fully restored by March 24. That’s Thursday.

The affected townships are: Mingalardon, Shwepyithar, Hlaing Tharyar, Insein, Mayangone, Yankin, Bahan, Tamwe, Mingalar Taung Nyunt, Tharketa, Pazungtaung, Botahtaung, Pabedan, Hlaing and Kamaryut.

Apologies to those who are already all too aware. Embrace the bucket shower

Editor’s note: A previous version of this post said the water would return tomorrow night. We have clarified that it should be back across the city by Thursday.
