Shakespeare’s Globe theater is bringing Hamlet to Yangon

To attend this show or not attend this show is not the question.

Because of course you must.

On August 31, cast members from the acclaimed Shakespeare’s Globe theater in London are bringing the brooding Prince of Denmark to Yangon.

That’s right: Hamlet y’all.

To mark the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, the Globe set out on a world tour in April of 2014.

While the project vows to hit “every country in the world,” North Korea doesn’t appear to be on the list.

But our beloved Yangon is, so neither a borrower nor a lender be, unless it is with the express purpose of getting a ticket, and in that case it’s cool to ask someone for money. And who listens to Polonius anyway? Lotta good that did Laertes, am I right?

Before Yangon the cast is going to Brunei, and afterwards, off to Hong Kong. Today the curtain will rise in Phnom Penh.

Anyway, since now is the rainy season of our discontent, this is something to look forward to.

Oops, wrong play.

That last line was from Richard III.

The good news is that we all have a few weeks to bone up on the bard before the show comes to town.
