English singer-songwriter Joss Stone is about to embark on a very short southeast Asian tour at the start of next month, and it includes a date in Myanmar!
On March 4, Stone will play a concert at the Kandawgyi Palace Hotel. Tickets went on sale today, which, considering that the gig is this coming Saturday, is cutting it a little close to say the least. Welcome to Myanmar.
Tickets can be bought from shop.com.mm, and in-person at Kandawgyi Palace Hotel. General Admission is MMK35,000, and VIP (which includes “pre concert cocktails and canapés) is K65,000. Apart from the extra alcohol and snacks, VIP tickets also guarantee you a seat, whereas general admission will be standing only.
The gig will be held outdoors, if that’s of concern to any potential attendees. According to the official event page, Stone will play from 8 pm to 11 pm.
K5,000 from each ticket sold will be donated towards the Myanmar Mobile Education Project, which provides education through mobile classrooms to children across the country.
Stone’s southeast Asian tour is part of her larger Total World Tour, which she first embarked on in April 2014 with the ultimate goal of performing in as many countries as possible.
The singer first became famous with the release of her multi-platinum debut album The Soul Sessions in late 2003. If you can’t recall hearing any of her stuff on the radio lately, it’s probably because her last album came out in July 2015.
Sure, it’s no Guns N’ Roses but there’s got to be a very small yet dedicated group of Myanmar Joss Stone fans, right?
