Nature photo exhibit at Myanmar Deitta (Friday)

A new photo exhibition features stunning images of Myanmar’s threatened natural landscapes. Includes work by award-winning photographer Minzayar and previously unseen aerial images of the Tanintharyi Region near the Andaman Sea. Opens with a panel discussion with NLD party member Ko Ko Win, Hanna Helsingen from WWF Myanmar and Pasquale Capizza from UN Habitat.

Documentary night at Press Office Café (Friday)

Cute hipster café Press Office hosts an intimate Friday movie night. Today’s doc is Code Girls from director Lesley Chilcott. It follows high-school girls from various corners of the globe trying to improve their communities using the powers of technology.

Rooftop bar opening at The Penthouse (Friday)

Much-hyped new rooftop bar The Penthouse holds an opening party. Try their Mediterranean bistro menu and gaze at Shwedagon Pagoda. House DJ Davedenam on the decks til late.

The Penthouse is on Bagaya Road near the corner with Dhammazedi Road. From 7pm.

Long list of Myanmar hip hop names performing at Kandawgyi Park on Saturday night. Heavy thunderstorms expected, which could add or detract from the show, depending on your feelings.

The Hateful Eight at Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel (Sunday)

Turns out the massive yacht-hotel anchored at Botahtaung jetty has a private movie theater. This Sunday, they’re screening Tarantino’s creepy Western The Hateful Eight. The throwback vintage-themed hotel is probably a good setting for it. Tickets start at K8,000. Call 09254453326 to reserve.
