5 things to do in Yangon this weekend: March 25

Myanmar Color Festival at People’s Square and Park (Saturday)

The first ever Myanmar Color Festival, held to celebrate diversity in Myanmar promises ‘mesmerising plumes of powder’ (in honor of Holi) on a ‘euphoric day of music and dance’. Sounds good to us. Entrance is K10,000, but includes powder paint to throw.

People’s Square and Park. From 3:30pm until 8:30pm.

Easter market at La Carovana (Saturday)

The last Saturday market before the organizers take a break for rainy season. More than 30 local producers – from handicrafts and textiles to yoghurt – sell their wares in the restaurant’s leafy garden.

La Carovana, #22 Kabar Aye Pagoda Road (beside Port Autonomy). 12pm until 7pm.

Foodies night at Windermere Hill Café (Saturday)

The phenomenally popular and pretty useful Facebook group Yangon Foodies turns one this weekend, with celebrations in the garden of cutesy Windermere Hill Café. Some of the city’s most popular restaurants provide the catering. Plus, there’s free-flow beer.

Windermere Hill Café, #63 Chindwin Road. 5pm onwards.

Rooftop party at Yangon International Hotel (Saturday)

Headlined by Bangkok’s DJ Knatz, who blends electro and 90s hip-hop, this party on top of Yangon International Hotel looks pretty legit. Get in the mood with his frankly awesome mixes here. The Biebs and TLC’s Unpretty? Yes.

Yangon International Hotel, 8:30pm onwards.

Pool party at Jasmine Palace (Sunday)

Intensely hot sun, house music, and free flow beer – what could go wrong? Jasmine Palace Hotel’s pool party sounds like a pretty chilled place to spend your Sunday afternoon.

Jasmine Palace Hotel, #341 Pyay Road, Sanchaung Township. 3pm onwards.
