Eat: Opening of Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken (Saturday)
It’s no Nando’s, but grilled chicken chain Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken was nonetheless greeted with enthusiasm at its soft launch in Yangon on Thursday. The doors officially open Saturday.
#52, Royal Yaw Min Gyi Condo, Yaw Min Gyi Street.
Drink: Free coffee at Meringue (Friday)

Chic newly opened coffee shop Meringue has a TGIF deal we can get on board with: a free cup to go with any food purchased. Given how good their food looks – soft blueberry sponges with cream and crispy waffles – it could be the perfect pre-weekend indulgence.
#60-70, Nguwa Street, Ahlone Township.
Watch: Myanmar short films at Wathann Film Festival (Saturday and Sunday)

So many talented Myanmar filmmakers – both award-winners and newcomers – are on the lineup at the Wathann Film Fest, which comes to a close this weekend. Local films will be screened all day Saturday and the winners will be announced Sunday.
Waziya Cinema on Bogyoke Aung San Road. Full schedule here.
Party: B20 beer festival (Friday)
Free-flow draught beer at the unfortunately-named B20 Bar and Bistro. We can’t vouch for the quality of the brew, but K7,000 gets you as much as you can handle. There’s acoustic music and drinking competitions, too.
#96, 20th Street, Latha Township. 7:30pm until 11pm.
Reflect: Han Tin Swe solo exhibition at Pansodan Scene (Saturday and Sunday)

More than 50 paintings. Three decades worth of work. Han Tin Swe’s first solo exhibition at Pansodan Scene is a vibrant trip into rural life in Myanmar. Strong primary colors and off-kilter perspectives lend a surrealistic vibe to the painter’s work. The show runs through September 16.
Pansodan Scene, #144 Pansodan Street.
