It seems restaurants in Yangon are always on the move. You finally get to one location and they’re off again. See speakeasy Blind Tiger, which is now downtown after noise complaints drove it out from Nawaday Street.
The latest to join the shuffle is cool kid hangout Port Autonomy, which will close its doors next week. La Carovana, the Italian eatery run by the same venture, Pun & Projects, will also close.
The last day of business at both restaurants will be April 10, the management told Coconuts Yangon.
It’s been about a year since Port Autonomy, known for hipsterish Asian-Mexican fusion, moved from its original portside location downtown to the current leafy Kabar Aye Pagoda Road premises. Soon afterwards, La Carovana opened up in a colonial-era house next door.

Set in a lush garden, the venue has become a hotspot for late night boozing and lazy weekend brunches.
While the management declined to give further details about the move, they hinted that more news would be forthcoming soon.
For the sake of the Cubano sandwiches, it can’t come soon enough.
