The choices are expanding yet again.
Kirin Holdings, the Japanese beermaker which bought out Myanmar Brewery’s Singapore-based partner last year, is introducing its Ichiban (“number one) brand to the Burmese retail market.
It is already available in draft form in some areas, but not so much in stores, where it will be sold starting this month.
The news was reported in the Nikkei Asian Review.
The Japanese company also sells Kirin beer, the brand name brew, mainly in draft form in an increasing number of bars in the city.
Kirin owns a 55 percent stake in Myanmar Brewery, which produces Myanmar beer, still the dominant player in the market despite local brews introduced by Heineken and Carlsberg last year.
Oh, and if you haven’t read our blind beer taste test story, please do that now.
